A first cycle degree in Communication Studies or Management or in another area of study which the Faculty Board considers as appropriate, awarded by the University of Malta or any other higher education institution recognised by Senate. Applicants in possession of a degree classified with Third Class Honours or Category III may also be admitted provided they satisfy the Faculty Board that they are in possession of other qualifications, or relevant work experience, obtained following their first cycle degree.

All applicants shall demonstrate relevant work experience in marketing communication and/or digital marketing communication which the Faculty Board considers as appropriate.

All applicants shall be required to submit with their application a letter giving their motivation for applying for this Course, and shall further be required to attend for an interview to assess their suitability to follow the Course with profit.

The admission of applicants may be made conditional on the result of the interview conducted for the purpose.

If your job involves online marketing communications and you wish to improve your skills, this executive course is for you. It will be delivered in three blocks over ten months, during extended weekends. You will learn practical skills typically sought by industry, undertake a research-based dissertation on a related topic of your choice and may also benefit from placements within online gambling firms.

By the end of the course, you should better understand how to:

  • Integrate digital communication activities.
  • Provide timely data about consumer development.
  • Track consumer behaviour using critical data.
  • Apply concepts and skills pertaining to digital marketing communications.
  • Seek a sustainable competitive advantage in the marketplace.
  • Develop marketing activities via objectives, planning and strategy considerations.

The knowledge-base and acquired skills will make you better qualified for industry in general and online gambling in particular.

In addition to the compulsory study-units, students are required to register for study-units to the value of 10 ECTS credits from the elective study-units on offer during the year.

This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021 and by the Bye-Laws for the award of the Degree of Master of Arts in Digital Marketing Communication - M.A. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences.

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Possess an integrative approach to various communication activities. The emphasis is placed on using digital systems to research, recruit, track, evaluate and monetise consumers.
  • Use digital and research analytic systems to provide just-in-time data about consumer development.
  • Understand ‘consumers’ and the collection of critical data for tracking their relevant behaviour.
  • Develop and apply the frameworks, concepts, techniques and skills acquired during the taught component to address problems or issues related to digital marketing communications challenges in firms.
  • Identify the range of problems and decisions implicit in strategic digital marketing communications and ways of achieving a sustainable competitive advantage in the marketplace.
  • Explain how the development of marketing activities is driven by objectives, planning and strategy considerations.

This industry is currently utilising high-powered predictive modelling techniques to map their development and increase their reach, and as such become a beneficial learning environment.
